Tura, September 3: The A·Chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), Bawagre Sub-Unit, has urged the Meghalaya Government to urgently appoint a new Block Development Officer (BDO) at the Tikrikilla Development Block following the retirement of the incumbent officer.
In a memorandum dated September 3, 2026, addressed to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Secretary and Director of the Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Department, Sibhi Chakravarthy, IAS, AHAM Bawagre Sub-Unit President Briwat Sangma highlighted the administrative difficulties reportedly being faced by the development block in the absence of a designated BDO.

According to the memorandum, the previous BDO, Daplin D. Sangma, MCS, retired on July 31, 2026. AHAM stated that since the retirement, administrative and development activities within the Tikrikilla Development Block have been facing significant delays.
The organisation claimed that crucial public services, fund clearances and implementation of various schemes have been temporarily affected due to the absence of a regular head of the block.

Expressing concern over the situation, AHAM appealed to the state government to intervene immediately and either appoint a new BDO or assign additional charge to another competent officer until a regular appointment is made.
The organisation said such an arrangement would help ensure the smooth functioning of the Tikrikilla Development Block and prevent further delays in development-related activities and public services.
AHAM also expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts towards rural development and called for an early decision in the interest of the people dependent on the services of the block.
