Rongrong MDC Rinaldo K. Sangma seeks cancellation of alleged illegal Land Pattas and NOCs on Resubelpara Civil Hospital land

Tura, November 4, 2026: Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) representing the 23-Rongrong Constituency, Rinaldo K. Sangma, has written to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the GHADC, Shri Dhormonath Ch. Sangma, seeking the cancellation of allegedly illegally obtained land pattas and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued by the Chidaret Gambalgong A·king Nokmaship over land earmarked for the proposed 100-bedded Civil Hospital at Chidaret, North Garo Hills.

In his letter dated November 3, 2026, Sangma raised concerns over alleged encroachment on a substantial portion of land where construction of the 100-bedded Civil Hospital is underway. He claimed that NOCs for the sale of land falling within the 300-bigha area earmarked for the hospital had been issued by the Nokmaship.
According to Sangma, the land was acquired by the government through a gift in 2015 specifically for the development of public healthcare infrastructure and future hospital expansion. He further expressed concern that the alleged issuance of NOCs and land transactions within the designated hospital area could affect future healthcare development in Resubelpara, including the proposed Maternity Ward Hospital and a Nursing School.
Urging the GHADC leadership to intervene urgently, the Rongrong MDC requested the cancellation of all land pattas allegedly obtained through fraudulent means, along with the NOCs issued in connection with any portion of the 300-bigha hospital land. He also called for clear administrative orders restraining the Nokma from undertaking any further land transactions or dealings involving the demarcated hospital property.
The matter has now been brought to the attention of the GHADC Chief Executive Member, with Sangma seeking urgent action to protect the land earmarked for public healthcare infrastructure in North Garo Hills.
