GNC candidate Jakrak A. Sangma applauds E-Governance rollout in GHADC

Tura, September 4, 2026: GNC candidate from the 8-Amonpara GHADC Constituency, Jakrak A. Sangma, has welcomed the introduction of the E-Governance System in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), describing it as an important step towards modernising the Council’s administration.

In a letter addressed to the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Sangma expressed appreciation for the initiative and said digital governance could make GHADC services more accessible to people, particularly those living in remote parts of Garo Hills. He noted that residents from areas such as Baghmara, Chokpot, Rongara, Mahendraganj, Kalaichar, Siju, Rongjeng, Mangsang, Kharkutta, Mendipathar, Bajengdoba and Tikrikilla have often had to travel to Tura for official matters.

Sangma said the online system could allow residents to apply for certificates, NOCs and other services without having to make repeated journeys to the Council headquarters. He also said the initiative could reduce dependence on intermediaries and improve transparency and accountability in the Council’s functioning.

He further highlighted the potential of E-Governance to provide greater opportunities for young people to engage with digital public services and modern administrative systems. Sangma also acknowledged the role of GHADC Chief Executive Member Shri Dhormonath Ch. Sangma, expressing hope that the Council would expand digital services to cover more public-facing functions in the future.
