Dadenggre, July 11: Concerned over the persistent mobile and internet connectivity problems in Dadenggre subdivision, MLA Rupa M. Marak on Friday directed telecom service providers to improve their services within one month, warning that the issue has severely affected governance, education, and public welfare.

The directive came during a high-level coordination meeting held at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Dadenggre, to review the status of telecom services in the subdivision. The meeting was chaired by the MLA and attended by SDO (Civil) In-Charge Rajkumar Hajong, village headmen, representatives of NGOs, government officials, and telecom operators. Representatives from BSNL, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) participated in the meeting, while Airtel remained absent.
Highlighting the impact of poor connectivity, Marak said prolonged network disruptions have delayed the processing of MGNREGA wage payments, hindered the functioning of government services, and disrupted students’ academic activities, particularly those dependent on internet access.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of telecom services, the MLA instructed all operators to take immediate corrective measures and ensure visible improvement within one month. He also directed that all telecom companies, including Airtel, must be present at the next review meeting to report on the progress achieved.

During the discussion, Reliance Jio officials attributed the recurring connectivity issues to frequent power outages and fibre cable cuts. The company assured the meeting that necessary steps are being taken to strengthen network infrastructure and enhance mobile and internet connectivity across the Dadenggre subdivision. The meeting concluded with a consensus among officials and telecom providers to work in coordination to improve digital connectivity and ensure reliable communication services for residents of the subdivision.
