ASPF Seeks Probe into Alleged Substandard Road Repairs
Tura, June 19: The A·chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) has demanded an immediate investigation into the ongoing repair work on the Garobadha–Selsela–Rajabala road, alleging poor-quality construction despite assurances from Public Works Department (PWD) officials.
The controversy arose after local Nokmas and residents complained on June 14 that the newly laid seal coat could be easily peeled off by hand. While PWD officials and National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) representatives maintained that the work met standards and required a 72-hour curing period, ASPF disputed the claim following a site inspection on June 18.
ASPF Chief Organizing Secretary Raksim Marak alleged that even after 96 hours, the seal coat remained weak and sections of the road had already developed potholes and waterlogging. The organization has called for a thorough inquiry and warned of a democratic public protest if authorities fail to take corrective action.
