Tribal Nation Riders organise cleaning drive and awareness programme at Jengjal market

Jengjal, July 19: The Tribal Nation Riders (TNR), Garo Hills, in collaboration with the Jengjal Bazaar Committee, successfully organised a Cleaning Drive-cum-Awareness Programme on “Cleanliness, Hygiene and Waste Management” at Jengjal Market on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The programme aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness, practising good personal hygiene, and adopting proper waste management practices. Organisers said the initiative also sought to inspire young people to develop a sense of civic responsibility by keeping their surroundings clean and protecting the environment.

Volunteers carried out an extensive cleanliness drive across the market area while simultaneously educating shopkeepers, residents, and visitors on the need for proper waste disposal and hygienic practices. The campaign highlighted the role of community participation in creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

The event witnessed active participation from members of the Jengjal Bazaar Committee, TNR volunteers, students, local residents, as well as representatives from Akawe MC and Bullet Brother MC. Their collective efforts ensured the successful execution of the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, TNR members reiterated their commitment to promoting environmental awareness and encouraging public involvement in cleanliness initiatives across Garo Hills. They stressed that sustained community participation is essential for achieving long-term environmental sustainability.

The organisation expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Tura, for granting permission to conduct the programme and acknowledged the support extended by the Superintendent of Police. TNR also thanked the Hon’ble MLA of Dadenggre Constituency, the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Dadenggre, and the Block Development Officer of Rongram C&RD Block for their financial assistance and encouragement, which significantly contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

Concluding the programme, TNR appealed to citizens to work collectively towards building a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more sustainable Meghalaya through continued environmental awareness and responsible waste management practices.
