Tura, July 14: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, West Garo Hills Police have arrested three persons and recovered two stolen motorcycles during an ongoing investigation linked to a theft case registered at Dadenggre Police Station.
According to the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, a naka checking team of Tikirikilla Police Station intercepted two suspicious persons at Tikirikilla Market on the night of July 11 while they were travelling on a Bajaj Platina motorcycle without a registration number plate.
The two were identified as Minith Marak of Teksagre village under Damal Asim Police Station and Jaksram G. Momin of Raksamgre village under Tikirikilla Police Station. They were brought to Tikirikilla Police Station for questioning, during which police recovered another motorcycle, a Bajaj Pulsar bearing registration number AS-21M-7462.
Police verification revealed that the Bajaj Pulsar had been stolen from the Dadenggre area and was connected to a vehicle theft case already registered at Dadenggre Police Station. The accused were subsequently handed over to Dadenggre Police for further investigation.
During the course of the investigation, Dadenggre Police carried out follow-up operations and arrested another accused, identified as Baiti A. Sangma of Tebronggre village under Damal Asim Police Station.
On July 14, police recovered another stolen motorcycle from Rongmasugre under Damal Asim Police Station. The investigation is continuing to ascertain the involvement of the accused in other vehicle theft cases and to trace additional stolen vehicles.
West Garo Hills Police reiterated their commitment to curbing vehicle theft and bringing offenders to justice. The police also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious movement or information relating to stolen vehicles to the nearest police station, outpost, or beat house.
