Tura residents raise concerns over poor Airtel Network, demand immediate improvement

Tura, October 20, 2026: Residents of Danakgre, Bokmagre, Dopgre and Atmile in Tura have expressed serious concern over persistent poor Airtel mobile network coverage and internet connectivity, urging the telecom operator to take immediate measures to improve services in the affected localities.
Residents said weak signal reception, frequent call drops, interrupted voice calls and slow mobile internet speeds have been causing inconvenience for a prolonged period. The connectivity problems have reportedly affected students, working professionals and daily wage earners who depend on reliable internet services for education, employment and everyday activities.
The residents pointed out that dependable mobile connectivity has become increasingly important, particularly as more people rely on digital platforms for online learning, communication and work-related activities. They also expressed concern that poor network services could hamper timely communication during emergencies.
Local resident Bipin M. Sangma voiced his frustration over the situation, alleging that network services in the affected areas had not improved despite subscribers paying for regular mobile plans. “In this digital era, reliable communication is a basic necessity. However, Airtel consumers in our areas are completely disconnected from quality service despite paying for regular plans,” he said.
The affected residents have appealed to the North East Circle Management and the nodal officer of Bharti Airtel Ltd. to intervene and address the recurring connectivity issues without further delay.
They have called for an immediate assessment of network coverage in Danakgre, Bokmagre, Dopgre and Atmile, along with necessary technical measures to strengthen signal reception and improve internet speeds. These may include optimising existing mobile towers, upgrading network capacity and installing additional infrastructure wherever required.
Residents said improved connectivity was essential to ensure uninterrupted communication and better access to digital services. They urged the telecom operator to give priority to the affected localities and take appropriate corrective measures to provide subscribers with reliable mobile and internet services. The residents expressed hope that their appeal would prompt timely action from the company and bring relief to Airtel users across the affected areas of Tura.
