Ampati, September 30: The Co-Chairman of ACHIK, South Western Zone, has urged the South West Garo Hills district administration to immediately restrict the movement of heavily loaded dumper trucks on the Purakhasia-Salmanpara road and undertake urgent repair of the deteriorating road.

In a representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills, the ACHIK leader said the continuous movement of heavy dumpers has contributed to the worsening condition of the road, with potholes, mud, dust and damaged stretches making transportation increasingly difficult.

The representation highlighted concerns for school students, patients, pedestrians, daily commuters, farmers, traders and other road users who depend on the road for regular travel and access to essential services.

According to the representation, the poor condition of the road is also affecting connectivity to schools, markets, hospitals, offices and other essential facilities. It further warned that the continued movement of overloaded heavy vehicles could cause additional damage and increase difficulties for the public.
The ACHIK representative has called for immediate restriction or stoppage of heavy dumper movement, particularly overloaded vehicles, until the road is restored to a safe and motorable condition. The representation also urged the district administration to direct the concerned department to carry out immediate inspection, repair and restoration of the road. It sought regular enforcement and monitoring to prevent further deterioration.

Calling the issue one requiring urgent administrative attention, the ACHIK leader appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to treat the matter as urgent and initiate appropriate action at the earliest in the larger public interest.
