Tura, October 5, 2026: The A·chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK), Krima Council, has urged Reliance Jio to take immediate measures to address persistent poor network coverage, unstable mobile signals, frequent call drops and slow internet connectivity across the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya.
In a complaint submitted to the Customer Relation Manager/Service In-Charge of the Reliance Jio office at Araimile, Tura, ACHIK highlighted the difficulties faced by Jio subscribers, particularly in rural, remote and interior areas.

According to the organisation, users have been experiencing weak and fluctuating signals, poor voice-call quality, frequent network interruptions and extremely slow mobile data services. It said the connectivity problems are affecting students, teachers, government employees, businesses, healthcare services, banking transactions, online education and digital payments.

ACHIK also pointed out that unreliable connectivity can create serious difficulties during emergencies when people need to communicate with family members, authorities or emergency services.
The organisation has called upon Jio to conduct an immediate technical assessment of its network across Garo Hills, identify areas with weak or no coverage, upgrade existing infrastructure and mobile towers, improve internet speed and voice-call quality, and address recurring network outages and call drops.
It further requested the installation of additional network infrastructure in poorly connected areas and deployment of technical teams to investigate and resolve persistent connectivity issues.
ACHIK has also sought information from Jio regarding the corrective measures to be taken and the proposed timeline for improving network services in affected areas.
The organisation urged Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited to treat the matter seriously and take urgent corrective action in the larger public interest, stressing that reliable mobile and internet connectivity is essential for communication, education, business and the overall socio-economic development of the Garo Hills region.
